Problems With Hard Water

High levels of calcium and magnesium in your water can build up and leave limescale deposits on your plumbing fixtures, pipes, and appliances, shortening their lifespan and interfering with water pressure, and causing blockages.

Soap does not lather well in hard water and leaves scum on fixtures, shower doors, and sinks. Hard water may leave stains on glassware and dishes and leave laundry looking dingy and feeling stiff.

That hard water soap scum can irritate sensitive skin, making it feel dry and itchy.

Benefits of Installing a Water Softener System

At Camcor Plumbing, we always aim to recommend products and services that benefit your Queen Creek, AZ, household. Here are a few advantages of using a water softener:

  • Appliances, such as your water heater, will be less prone to limescale buildup and last longer.
  • Glassware and dishes will look cleaner without hard water stains, and laundry will be brighter.
  • Soap scum on bathroom and kitchen surfaces will be a thing of the past.
  • Blocked pipes from limescale buildup will be less likely.
  • Your skin may feel and look better after bathing with softened water.

You can count on our team to correctly install your water softening system so that you enjoy the most value from it. We also want to help you keep your system in good working order for years to come by helping you maintain your plumbing system.

How Does a Water Softener Work?

The typical water softener removes calcium and magnesium. As water enters the water softener's main tank, it passes through resin beads.

The calcium and magnesium in the water are positively charged and attracted to the negatively-charged resin. They cling to the beads while the (calcium- and magnesium-free) softened water leaves the tank for distribution through your home's plumbing system.

The system must be cleaned with salt water to recharge the resin beads and remove the collected calcium and magnesium. A separate tank holds salty water for the cleaning and recharging process, and connects to the main softening tank. A valve controls the amount of water used during cleaning and recharging.

Water Softeners Versus Water Conditioners

You may have heard about salt-free alternatives to water softeners called water conditioners. Water conditioners make the minerals less abrasive but do not remove them as a salt system does.

Although water conditioners can improve your water, scaling still is possible.

If you want to eliminate calcium and magnesium from your water, we recommend installing a salt-style water softener.

Some Queen Creek, AZ, homeowners are interested in water conditioners because they require less maintenance than water softeners. If maintenance is your concern, let our qualified pros at Camcor Plumbing show you the options that are available to you.

“Called Camcor because of a leak in my water softener and also to change filters in my reverse osmosis. They were very prompt in returning my call and were able to come out that same day. Due to its age and the cost to repair I decided to replace my water softener. Frank did a great job installing the new system and was very thorough in explaining everything. I would highly recommend Frank and Camcor Plumbing.”

- Brenda R.

“Frank has been servicing all our plumbing products for a few years now. He is very thorough, and explains our options well. Recommend both Frank & Camcor highly”

- Ronald C.

“Frank has been to our home on previous occasions for routine service. This time he was doing a complete softener replacement. Any time I need help from Camcor I will ask for Frank. He is very competent, timely courteous. His work area is always cleaner when he leaves than it was when he started.”

- Richard G.

“I had the pleasure of having Frank come out, in answer to my plea to the company that I could not remember my ‘duties’ as being a new water softener system owner since February …..🙄 ( hard to teach an old dog new tricks🫡 )
Long and short of it, i was close to maybe burning out the motor in my unit…he was able to provide me with a couple bags of salt from his truck…and patiently explained, again, what I needed to do on a monthly basis. (Like check salt level, smart woman 😵‍💫)
Not to mention it was 105 degrees in there, feeling like 130 🤤, and he kept a smile and did not make me feel like a idiot, even tho we both had gallons of sweat pouring down our faces.
Don’t know how you technicians do it in these summers.
Thankyou to Camcor and thankyou Frank, and thankyou to my original installer.”
